Stock cooling fans rob a lot of power from a performance engine, as their fixed blades must be angled sharply so that the engine will be cooled  at idle speed. That's fine for idle speed, but at high RPM they retain that same sharp pitch and it requires a lot of wasted power to thrash the air out of way unnecessarily.

Flex fans change their shape and pitch with changes in engine RPM so that maximum cooling is obtained when the engine is idling and there is no air flow  from the motion of the car to cool the radiator. At higher speeds when there is a large air flow to cool the radiator, the blades assume a flat pitch which takes very little power from the engine. This leaves several extra horsepower at the flywheel to move the car faster.

Flex fans are made from pre-stressed anodized aircraft aluminum that will not fatigue or crack as the fiberglass fans on the market do. Installation is simple: Unscrew the bolts from your old fan and bolt the new flex fan in place. Before ordering, check to see whether you need a 13 inch or a 15 inch fan by measuring the diameter of your old fan. Flex fans can also serve to replace fan clutches, which are fairly expensive. If the fan clutch won't release the stock fan to free-wheel any more just bolt a flex fan in place and let the change in pitch with RPM take the place of the clutch action.

                                                        FAN MOUNTING NOTES:

    1. On some cars the center mounting hole must be enlarged by drilling it out to match the nose on the fan pulley. The fans come with a 1/2" center  hole.

    2. The most efficient cooling is achieved by mounting the fan 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches from the radiator. This can be done with the use of spacers which are supplied with the proper length bolts in 1/2", 1", and 2" thickness.

Aluminum flex fans, 13" $36 Aluminum flex fans, 15" $46
Fan spacers with bolts in either 1/2", 1", or 2" thickness $14 each
